From 1967 to 1976, the Thrasher Brothers produced and performed on a television show called America Sings . The gospel classic One Day At A Time was one of their top tunes during this time period. The Thrasher Brothers received FIVE Grammy awards during their music career. After traveling all over the world and performing is virtually every imaginable venue, the Thrashers retired from full time touring in 1986. They did however, return to the recording studio in 1996 as Ben Speer produced a Thrasher Brothers release on the Homeland label titled Encore . This final recording by the three brothers featured an all-star cast of bass singers including George Younce, J.D. Sumner, Brock Speer Rex Nelon, and John Gresham. The Thrasher Brothers were inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
The Thrasher Brothers continue to come out of retirement a few times each year to perform for special events such as the Alabama Music Hall of Fame induction ceremonies and other limited special occasions. Steel City Bass Singer, Greg Carter is indeed very honored to perform with the Legendary Thrasher Brothers during these rare performances.
